2007 C6 A6 Sedan 3.2 CVT MMI Problem

I bought the car a couple months ago with the MMI completely dead. The car runs,drives, and looks great. A/C blows cold, everything but the MMI and trunk release switches work (key fob opens trunk so I dont care). The screen is completely dead and the control buttons do not light up. I scanned it with my VAGCOM 12.2.2 HEX CAN and did a Optical Bus test. Every single component showed electrical and optical ERROR. Deciding I did not feel like dealing with it I sent it to the only local Audi dealer. They had it for three weeks and said they couldnt figure it out.

Getting it back, I checked all the fuses three times and found the telematics fuse was blown. I found the bluetooth/tele module with corrosion all over it. I left the module unplugged, replaced the fuse, and did the optical test again. This time I found about 3/4 of the system showed "OK". I ordered a new module, went to plug it in and the fuse blew. I took the connector apart to find two wires in the larger of the two slides melted together. I replaced the larger portion in the 54 PIN electrical connector with a pig tail from a 2008 A6 , plugged in the replacement module, and replaced the fuse. Now I am at this point:

The MMI is still very dead and I am stumped as to where to go next. Although the modules electrically show "OK" other than the Navigation, the only module I can communicate with is the CAN Gateway. Basically, the only thing that changed after replacing the module was that the Telephone now shows "OK" electrically.:confused:

Audi has released the official pricing info for the all-new A3 TDI Sedan, A3 Cabriolet and the S3 Sedan, and the news appears pretty good all around. As usual, none of the following prices include Audi's unspecified-for-now destination charges.

The big news is the S3, complete with 292 horsepower, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. Prices start at just $41,100, which is a decent savings over the more powerful, 355-hp Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG.

The new A3 TDI sedan, meanwhile, has a starting price of just $32,600. While you'll be certain to save some money on fuel, you'll be doing so without Quattro all-wheel drive. Still, the improved economy of the 2.0-liter, turbodiesel four-cylinder isn't priced too steeply, relative to the gas-powered A3's $29,900 starting price.

Finally, the A3 Cabriolet will be available in a pair of powertrain groups. The base, front-drive 1.8-liter model starts at $35,600. That's a fair jump in price over the A3 Sedan, but hey, at least there's unlimited headroom. The 2.0-liter, Quattro-equipped droptop will ring up at $38,600. For reference, the same powertrain in the four-door model starts at $32,900.

Upcoming Audi Q1 rumored to get high-performance SQ1 variant

The Audi Q1 isn't due for another two or three years, yet Auto Bild reports already that it will come in RS and SQ1 trims. According to the report, the RS Q1 will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder putting out 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, putting it about 70 hp and 8 lb-ft beyond the next-most-powerful gasoline engine in the standard range.

Depending on how you like your gumption served, however, the first SQ1 - like its European SQ5 sibling - go the diesel route with a 2.0-liter TDI fitted with twin turbos for 231 hp and 368 pound-feet of torque. That's an improvement of 47 hp and 88 lb-ft over the most powerful diesel engine said to be offered on the regular Q1.

The report goes on to say that there should be g-tron (natural gas) and e-tron versions of the Q1, and buyers will get a deep toy chest of assistance packages to equip it with. How to check/replace fuel pressure regulator?

Hi all,

I've got a '97 a4 quattro, and I want to replace the fuel pressure regulator as well as check the fuel filter. Can someone explain to me how to do so? Pictures would be extra helpful :)

P0240 CEL/MIL after 034 Motorsport HFC install

First time posting, sorry if i posted this issue in the wrong area. So I installed a 034 HFC with Bosch o2 sensor spacer. After putting on 120 miles i got a CEL. I do have an APR stage 2 none test pipe file. Im trying to work my way around not reflashing. Any suggestions on resolving this is issue? Any recommended o2 spacers

I went to look at a Audi A3 and when taking it for a drive it would not go over 80mph. When i got back the owner said this happens on all newer audi cars when cold to prevent harming the engine. Is this true?

Identifying the name!

I have just bought a 2004 Audi A3 TDI 3 door It is very tidy except for one in perfection which i want to rectify. The piece of metal that separates the front door to the rear quarter is dented almost like the seat belt has been slammed in it. I want to replace this but dont know what its called to search. Its just pop riveted into the body. I would post a pic but havent picked the car up yet. can anyone help?

A3 Sat Nav Advice Please!

Hi everyone, newbie joining the forum here - hope that someone can help me with this one.

I have just bought an Audi A3 (2011) TDI and it has the Audi Radio as standard fitted. The car also has Audi Bluetooth fitted as an option when I bought it.

I would like to be able to swap the current CD/Radio (Audi Concert) for an Audi Sat Nav Unit.

I have seen them on Ebay, and reasonable money I think. Can I ask the forum bods on here the following:

1. Is it a straight forward fit that I can do at home

2. Is the Audi Bluetooth a separate module that will still work once the Sat Nav is fitted to the car, as I don't want to loose this feature.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me - or if there is someone who specialists in this type of install also.

01 1.8t infrequent no start

So in the last couple months about 6-8 times it wouldnt start when warm but always start 10-30 min. later. I changed the coolant sensor, and had no problems for about a couple weeks but it has happened a couple more times since. Then today it died (fine one moment nothing the next) going down the road but started an hour later. I haven't had a scanner on it yet but ant ideas?

A 19-year-old in the UK is smarting after the possibility that his prolific social media use may be at the heart of four family-owned supercars going up in flames in barely a week. Aleem Iqbal has thousands of followers on Twitter and Instagram paying attention to his frequent posts about the high-priced cars he's driving. He's even been featured on the Tumblr page Rich Kids of Instagram . It appears that some people might not be so smitten with him, though.

According to his Twitter profile, Iqbal owns Platinum Executive Travel, a luxury car rental company in the England, and UK newspaper The Telegraph claims the company is also owned by Iqbal's father. On June 6, cameras caught three hooded men setting fire to a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster leased by the company for a wedding. A few days later, two Audi R8 Spyders and a Bentley Continental Flying Spur from Platinum also got the torch, and two men were caught on camera setting the blaze. Nobody was hurt in either of the attacks, and the Aventador appeared to be repairable with the fire causing most damage to the passenger seat and dashboard. Police are still investigating both of the crimes.

According to The Telegraph, Iqbal believes that the arsons could have stemmed from jealousy towards him and his family's business. Audi to use this telepresence robot to fix cars

Next time you take your Audi in for service, watch to see if a little white stand is following your mechanic around. It's not some new measurement tool for your car; it's a actually a robot being controlled remotely to improve vehicle service. While bots playing a role in building cars is nothing new, the company is taking things a step further in the US by introducing Audi Robotic Telepresence to assist dealer technicians in repairing the brand's vehicles. The droids are already being used in a pilot program at about 18 dealers nationwide with plans to have it at 100 in the near future.

At the moment, ART, as its called, is more R2-D2 than The Terminator. It certainly won't be doing any wrenching on your A4 anytime soon because it doesn't even have arms. Instead, the robot comprises a remote-controlled stand with multiple cameras, a microphone and speakers. The bot is operated remotely by Audi Technical Assistance consultants and Technical Field Managers who can talk back-and-forth with mechanics about vehicle service and help to remotely diagnose problems. The droid is even equipped with a handheld camera and borescope to reach into tiny crevices.

Audi claims that ART is the first system of its kind to directly link automakers with technicians at the dealer level in this way and leads to faster, more accurate service for customers. timing belt issue help

:mad: My gates timing belt came out short ! it wont fit its for a audi a4 2000 atw engine they keep sending me a 150 teeth timing belt and says it fits the AEB ATW engine but it does not! why does it not fit its driving me crazy this is the second time i get a belt that does not fit a my missing something? i keep hearing the atw needs a 152 or 153 teeth belt.:confused:

Power Washed engine now it doesnt seem right

So I power washed my 1.8t engine the other day to clean off oil and just make it look nicer and now im running into problems. I know now (after checking the web) that power washing it wasnt the best idea. I had a cylinder two misfire and sputted home. The thing dried out but it still seems like there may be something wrong. Im not sure if its the engine or coincidence that a balancing weight fell of my wheel, but now there is a slight vibration while on the road. All cylinders are firing and there is no check engine light. Are my cylinders ok and firing synchronized? I dont want to hurt the engine! :confused:

I've just recently bought an a4 1.8t quattro saloon 2003

The engine management has come on and the fault code is p0117(coolant temp sensor)

On a morning when I start the car after 10secs the fan comes on and eventually goes off after 5mins.

Driving the car feels fine and the temp gauge goes upto 90degrees then doesn't move after,although the when the car is hot and been stood in traffic the fan doesn't kick in although it's not overheated yet(maybe I've not been stuck or sat long enough).

But I did start it up this morning and the coolant warning light came on so I checked the coolant level and it had all gone,this was the first time all the coolant had gone.....is it true this could just be the coolant temp sensor that require changing?

Hi I am new to this forum. I am thinking of purchasing an Audi so I figured I'd sign up here and maybe get some help. This guy is selling a 2008 Audi A4 fully loaded + s line package with 88,000 miles. it is white with black emblems and trim stuff, wheels, and windows are tinted black. So this guy has put time and money into its appearance. No engine mods to my knowledge. Also the interior is in perfect condition. With all that being said, he is asking 13,000 flat. I've asked to negotiate but he tells me he is firm on his price and refuses to go any cheaper. Carfax checks out and the car has been serviced every 15,000 miles and has had no major repairs. So my question to you guys is if you think this is worth the 13,000 dollars? I've never bought any audi before so I'm not familiar with typical used prices. Thanks for your input in advanced. :)

Don't bother expecting any real feedback from anyone here other than Paul755. Yes there are 168,000 registered members but none of them bother trying to help. I have asked several questions and even tried to help other people here so that I would not be the "new member who helps no one" and other than one dude, who I appreciate very much, no one answers at all!! no admins no veterans no moders, nothing! I think Ill just take the local Audi shot manager to a topless bar and win his favor that way so I can get information thats usable.

Belly Pan Screws

So when I got my 01 A4 Avant, there were only 3 screws holding the belly pan on. Not a big deal, but I hear a rattle over bumps and a quick inspection down there only the edges of the belly pan were loose. Simple enough fix, get some more of those special screws with the cork screw like thread and very wide flat head.

Called my local Audi dealer and they want $8 each for those screws!!! They have got to be kidding, really?

Anyway, thought I'd ask here before heading over to the dealer. Anyone know of a more reasonable source for these screws? Or anyone have the part number or a VW part number as a cross reference?

Ignition switch, 2005 A4 Audi

While my ignition switch will activate the fuel pump relay switch, I am not getting power through the fuel pump circuit - no voltage at the fuse or at the pump itself. I read another post on this forum by someone with the same problem, which was successfully diagnosed as an ignition switch problem. I have not looked at the switch yet, and was wondering if someone might be able to point me in the direction of finding out how to remove it so I can test, and replace if necessary, the electrical part of the switch.

2008 A6 brake pads question

Hi, guys, I want to replace my 2008 A6 rear brake pads from audi genuine one to StopTech brake pads and I want to keep using the old audi genuine front pads, but I am not sure I can do this, because I am worried about using two brands' brake pads on my car may have some bad influence on the quatrro system and the brake system, like ABS or ESP. Should I do this or just buy a new audi genuine rear brake pads and forget the StopTech? Any input would be appreciated!!

A/C dead, where's the A/C compressor located?

Hello, my wife's 2007 Q7 A/C died yesterday in 85 degree weather. My first thought was to add refrigerant, I read the pressure, it read fine, but I still added the refrigerant just in case...pressure didn't change at all. My next thought is it's the A/C compressor. I know what it looks like, but I can't seem to find it under the hood. I see the engine and all of the spinning components through which the timing belt is threaded, but what do I have to remove to get to the compressor to check if its spinning? I'm guessing it's going to be somewhere near the refrigerant intake, so maybe under the brake fluid under the right far corner, or maybe down below the right (driver's side) headlight.

Need some advice

I want to get an Audi A3 and I've been looking at a 2006 170BHP S line in silver, it looks in mint condition but have yet been to see it. It's up for £7885 and has 95000 miles on the clock. Was just wondering if this is too much to pay for this car with so many miles on it? I could obviously negotiate the price but just wanted to ask the question first and get some advice.

5hp24 front pump test?

Have a 2000 a6 quattro 4.2 with a level ten bulletproof tranny. It quit working totally one day. Not so bulletproof huh for $6g! I pulled the tranny lines to radiator (cooler) and started car. No fluid came out. That a sign the front pump is bad in tranny?? If so would that have ruined converter to?

looking for mechanic

Looking for a mechanic in fairfield county area in CT for my 2000 audi a4 1.8t.

problem: car just shuts down randomly, usually when it's hot outside. sometimes starts immediately after powering down and sometimes does not. I took it to my local shell/mechanic; said something is wrong with the computer but they aren't able to fix it and told me to take it to the dealer... which I don't really want to do...

so if someone can help me out, i would appreciate it.

cruise control: is there a dash indicator light ?? (i swapped modules)

Hi - so my cruise hasn't worked in years. After lots of reading about both (possible) switch issues and module failures, I decided to buy a used module off ebay that was listed as compatible for my 1998 (.5) b5 audi a4 Q 2.8. The used module was much smaller than my existing/original module, but pin out diagram and plug size looked the same, so I plugged it in. cruise works perfect with this used/smaller module

Should there be a cruise indicator on dash? : Ithink I recall that a dash indicator used to come on when cruise was engaged (with original module when it worked), but there are no lights now. I'm more that happy just to have working cruise, but am curious if there was a light and if perhaps this 'smaller module' just doesn't have the light functionality part.

I didn't write down the module numbers, but could post them up later if needed. Would appreciate feedback

Can someone verify the lower ball joint torque specifications for a 2007 Audi A3 Quattro? The 3 bolts from the ball joint to the control arm.

The Audi A3 Quick Reference Specification Book (http://blogvager.files.wordpress.com...a3_qsb_web.pdf) states it is 60Nm, but if I try to torque to that spec, it strips the bolt and nut.

I have seen other forum posts that say 20Nm +90 degrees?

Does the suspension need to be under load?

Is the spec book incorrect?

Brake pad replacement

I own a 2001 Audi A6 2.7t. I have owned it for 3 years and have never touched the brake pads/rotors. The warning light on the LED display has come on and it is my understanding that only the front brake pads have sensors attached to them. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Anyways, I'm in need to replace, at a minimum, the front brake pads. I was looking at car parts at rockauto.com and found some extremely cheap brake pads. The problem is that I don't know a lot about cars.

6 Spd Manual Trans Shift Linkage Wedge

Anyone have dimensions of the wedge piece that goes inside the shift link bracket shown in link?

It's for a C5 Audi A6 2.7L w/ 6 spd man. trans.

I just reinstalled engine & trans after clutch job & noticed excessive gap to the cap-nut that is supposed to hold this linkage on. I suspect I'm missing the wedge piece.

Unfortunately I didn't do enough homework before re-install to know this when it was easier to get to.

I'd like to fab-up the wedge piece, if someone has it handy to give me some dimensions.

Fault code po117

My engine management light has come on and my obd-II shows it has fault code po117.

When I start my car first thing the fan kicks in straight away but once driving it goes off,but the temp gauges rises to top centre at 90degrees then doesn't move either way. I have been told that I have a faulty coolant sensor and that it needs replacing....could anybody back this up please and confirm that this is the problem

'04 A4 3.0 engine cover question.

Can someone tell me if the '04 3.0 came with this part? It's the engine cover section circled in the picture, I bought one used that was on an '02, but I can't find the where it should fasten in the engine compartment.

Hi - i have a 1998.5 a4 2.8 Q

Washer fluid is leaking, will be totally empty morning after filling. Based on searching posts on this topic I am assuming that I have a leaking pump.

Can anyone help me with a pump part # ( or a link to parts ) for a replacement. In the this case I pefer to buy replacement to have on hand before I remove wheel so I'm ready to replace.

Commenting on the rush of events that rocked beginning and end of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Paul Truswell of Radio Le Mans said "the race is about the ability to endure, not just the ability of drivers to do what they do for a long time." The entire race machine, all the way down to the pit boards and radios, has to survive the stress and abuse of the entire day. This was the race to prove those words.

There were two Toyotas, two Porsches and three Audis, five of the seven led the race at some point, six of the seven ran in the top three. Toyota will be hugely disappointed that it didn't win when its car and drivers were so, so strong, but they gave Audi the kind of scare we haven't seen since the best of Peugeot's days, and Toyota did a better job of it even in the loss. Porsche blew away everyone's expectations, falling 3.5 hours short of a fairy tale ending that would have made Disney cry.

2010 Q5 Fuel Filter Replacement

My 2010 Q5 is getting a little rough to start. I'm thinking its time for new plugs and fuel filter replacement. Has anyone changed a fuel filter. Is it doable for an above average wrench turner thats not an ACE certified mechanic?

Cam Follower Warranty

Just a FYI for our fellow B7 owners, Audi has extended the warranty covering this design issue in our loved cars.

Contact audi via email with your VIN number. Representative told me the warranty has been extended to 10 years or 120,000 miles. Covers the camshaft, cam follower and fuel pump. Warranty begins from day first sold as new.

Personally im happy of this extension since this item (cam follower) is not in the maintenance requirements in the owners manual and failure of this part can have severe consequences to your engine. Once changed, make it a part of maintenance over time.

Need a quick hand

Hi Guys and Gals,

Just purchased a 2009 A4 wagon 195,000kms- nice car great gas mileage - but yup uses a crazy amount of oil. 1 quart per 300ish kms.

Bought off private sale so no dealer to talk to.

I am getting the new pcv valve and installing it myself this week.

The common areas for consumption are PCV- Rings - valve seals - and possible turbo bearings seals.

Here is something I have noticed - after 30mins of driving I have noticed some smoke coming out the tail pipes on acceleration/ take off only. Or if I put the gas to the floor on the highway.

It will not do this when the engine is cold only after 20-30 mins? Very strange and I can not figure it out.

Can someone send me some pointers on where to look. Before I bit the bullet and take it to my local Audi stealer.

Stuck! Audi has hard start, loss of power

Hello,

I have been trying to gather info about my car, and why it might be having this issue. It is a '97 a4 quattro (2.8L 12v), and here are the details upon startup:

• When I turn the ignition, the starter motor spins with full force.

• As it cranks, the engine will cough or sputter once or twice. But I really have to keep it cranking (15+ secs) before I hear it firing. I know that is bad for the starter motor to keep it going like that.

• Once it starts up, a big cloud of white/smelly smoke puffs out the exhaust, and the idle is horrendous for about 1-3 mins. Even attempting to give it gas will cause the engine to cut out.

• Engine light is on, scanning it soon.

• First 5 mins or so: Car will drive but feels sluggish, and shifting feels out of time until the car warms up. Sometimes it will stall in the road, and sitting at a red light I can see the idle fluctuate between 800rpm to almost 2 grand.

• The engine oil level drops very slowly, and slow white smoke comes out of the filler when I open the cap after the engine has been running. There is also wetness on the top of engine behind the right cams. Coolant level stays the same.

• After initial startup, when the car has been running nearly 15 mins, it drives fine and can be started right away if the engine is shut off. Sometimes the idle is a little rough but nothing serious. All the gauges read normal (oil temp, engine temp, fluid levels, battery voltage, etc.). Engine light stays on.

I cleaned the MAF sensor, replaced spark plugs, and checked the vacuum lines. The fuel pump seems to work okay. This problem has happened before, and I had the plugs changed and it went away for a few months. Now it is back and haunting me every day as I struggle to get to work on time. Any help is appreciated, I can't afford to keep having a mechanic diagnose and replace things. Thank you!

Just replaced ignition lock cylinder, now had electrical issues

I just replaced a broken ignition lock cylinder on my 2001 A6 2.7t. I replaced all the wires correctly, but when I turned the car on, the Air Bag, ABS, Traction control, and brake light all came on. These were not on when I had the ignition lock failure. Also, the horn does not work and the automatic windows do not move up and down with one click. Any suggestions? I think the computer may need resetting.

The sensor behind the bumper is ok. Tested with ice water bath and interior display responded as I would expect. Also, the interior A/C operates normally so interior temperature sensor is good.

Couldn't find anything about a second ambient temp sensor with Google.

Could this be the sensor in the fresh air plenum?

When door opens, mileage indicator is shown, anyone know what controls the light

It's been years guys!

As the title says, it's been years. I used to have a beauty of a 225 that I traded in for a Lotus about 4yrs ago. I loved my TT and it was pretty modd'ed. The other day I saw a lowered 225 in Gull Grey on rims merging onto 520 in Bellevue, WA. It just looked sick with those rims and stance.

STUNNING CAR! I even rolled down the passenger window to give the thumbs up!

Made me miss my 225 so bad I just had to come back to post on here.

HELP!! Shaking, exhaust noise, NO POWER.

I've done my share of searching forums but not much luck. My car is at 125,000 miles, owned it about 8 months, chipped it with a United Motorsports stage 1, Catback, boost gauge and a bailey's DV, to give some background.

I went to drive it this afternoon, gave it a quick pull and everything seemed fine. Then a minute later I was driving and gave it a little gas to accelerate normally and felt a bit of a sputter, and immediately had a big loss of power, shaking, and an altered exhaust sound. It's running very rough. It shakes at idle and worse during ANY acceleration. Barely any power and a sputter when accelerating. A throatier or more gurgly exhaust sound (normaly I'd be cool with that).

The only time it sounds/feels fine is when I'm moving, but off the gas and decelerating. Plus it's NOT THROWING ANY CODES (yet). I couldn't find anything by looking and feeling, but vacuum leak maybe? I literally just graduated college today and really don't wanna have to spend big $$ just to have a shop try to diagnose it, so any input would be much appreciated.

Anyone selling a s4 b5 front bumper?

Any NY Audi Mechanic that will install MY PURCHASED parts?

Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the New York City Area that has all the proper tools and software to work on a 2004 Audi A8? Seems as though all of the shops in the New York City Area are either booked for the next 3 weeks at a time OR they are shops that choose to only repair your car if they get you the parts AND MARK UP the part cost and you have no choice to pay them.

I am looking for a mechanic that would diagnose my car, let me know what is wrong and what is needed and then charge me labor and other fees as warranted while I get the exact OEM (and not cheap stuff) parts either from Audi directly with a discount, ECS Tuning, RMEuropean etc. I am tired of these shops getting the same exact part and then charging me double of what they paid and then on top of that a labor. I can understand charging labor costs and diagnostic fees but why would you charge me double for the same exact part that I can get for cheaper than the shop can get it!

Please help anyone.

1994 S4 5cylinder 20vt parts car $1500

Lightly hit in the front end needs a hood and two front fenders. It is a 5 speed manual tranny. The motor needs a head gasket otherwise car is solid. Be good project car. Send me a email for more info. Thanks
