Another Minde friend

- Very inventive, but in an understated natural way. As if it's the most normal thing in the world. (From stories told, his parents are inventive and don't always march to all of society's drums.)
- Owns and drives a mini-van and appears to be a little embarrassed about it, but he's renovated the interior to be a cozy little space - taking out the middle and back seats, put down carpet, made a little couch that can fold out into a mattress. He stocks snacks and light sabers.
- One time I said something about how that particular evening I was feeling exhausted and would probably sit in the corner of the group feeling / being emotionally numb. He said something like, "Oh, you mean how most males are." Not sure if that's how most males are, but he apparently identified with it.
- A DIY king, basically. But, again, seems almost embarrassed about it.
- We have a shared value of learning new information and can connect over it.
- Smiles a lot and is at least superficially friendly to everyone. Often makes a point to say something and engage with each of the individuals around him.
- Has said to me that he doesn't feel strong in creating and maintaining long-term friendships / relationships. Which at first seemed odd to me since he seems to have so many long-standing friendships. He's one of the oldest members of a group of friends that's been around for years. He seems to know everyone and everyone likes him.
- Will do joking "lies", which I unfortunately fall for far too often.
- Doesn't mind being goofy, but then seems to be slightly embarrassed.
- Is definitely ok being unconventional. But in a personal sense; he never really seems to want or expect others to be so.
- Claims to be frugal, and I haven't seen too many contradictions in that so far.
- Doesn't have a career, per se. A self-described jack-of-all-trades. His current source of income is as a sort of one-man geek squad, helping people and companies fix their various technology-related issues, particularly as it relates to managing the physical devices and their setup.
- Seems to enjoy being helpful, more than the average person.
- Takes things to heart more than he shows. I kind of had to watch for it, but little things show it. For example, one time I asked his advice on a project I was thinking about. He said he'd check into a particular resource. Several days passed and I heard nothing from him, so I began to fear I'd been forgotten. I run into him a bit later and after talking a bit ask about that resource. He said it had fallen through. Then he says in passing how he noticed something funny in his sketches of my idea and goes on about that funny thing. What stood out to me in that moment, though, was that he certainly had not forgotten and had in fact been thinking a lot about it. (It helped a lot with my trust, too.)
- Appears to have overall positive relationships with his family. Traditions, while not vital and unmovable, seem valued. Many of his stories involve family members including extended relatives.
- Enjoys researching a topic and then teaching others about it. Gains satisfaction from the pupils' enjoyment of the process and absorption of the topic.
- Flabbergasted at my relative lack of exploring-the-local-area experience.

I might share photos privately with those of you who I consider decent humans.

So far I'm thinking extroverted Ne/Si type.

What else should I describe? What do you think so far?

How about you skip the pics, and simply tell us what the person says their greatest contributions to society are?

DCNH census

If you are uncertain how to vote, then perhaps return to the thread at a later point!
It is possible for vote for more than one option in each section, but that is not ideal.

Two things to vote on:

  • Vote depending on what your DCNH subtype is!

  • Vote depending on how that subtype relates to your Socionics type! ( ♆ Sea Below ⚓ ) (I believe it to be a point of interest, which may be of some relevance to how people perceive the DCNH subtypes, at least when reading of them.

Basically, each of the DCNH subtypes fits in one of these four groups:
  • Your dominant temperament (in my case, if I am EII, this would be IJ)

  • The temperament of your dual (in my case: EJ)

  • The temperament of your conflictor (in my case: EP

  • The Otter one (in my case: IP)

(If you don't know, read the following links to find out):
http://ift.tt/1MUoYXR (general overview)
http://ift.tt/1MUoXDb
http://ift.tt/1MUoXDe

I personally I find this article the most useful, although you may disagree. Go straight to section 3.1 to 3.4 (the rest is rather difficult to read): http://ift.tt/1MUoXDh
3.1 = Dominant, 3.2 = Creative, 3.3 = Normalizing, 3.4 = Harmonizing

40Q - looking for input

1. What is work in your opinion? Why do people go to work? Are there any parameters where you can distinguish whether you can do this work or not?
People go to work simply to earn money and live comfortably or happily. I would think qualifications are a measure of your capability, as well as realizing your talents and hobbies. Although workers are needed for the economy, as well as the norm in society to be employed, people would not have much to do in their lives without having an occupation. Even if I don't fully enjoy work, I feel fulfilled in my accomplishments afterwards

2. How do people determine the quality of work? How do you determine such quality? How well you can determine the quality of any purchase, do you pay any attention to it?
A fair wage. The work has to have a balance between effort and pay. With purchases you can consider durability, cost of material, price, feedback, etc.

3. There is a professional right next to you. You always see that you can't perform the way they do. Your feelings, thoughts and actions?
I don't feel any negative emotion, although it depends on what the activity is. I wouldn't ask for help or advice, but rather observe their methods, figure out why they are more skilled than I am - have they been doing this longer? are they older than me? More experienced? - and then I would aim to improve myself over time, or find my advantage.

4. If you struggle to do something, what can you say about such a task? Tell us your next steps and give examples. Compare with actions of others in a similar situation.
I would admit I am bad at performing the task, and seek to learn how to improve if motivated to. The last example I can think of was when I was using a fabric machine in my art class. Everyone had difficulty with it, therefore it was nothing to worry about as I was in the general consensus. I didn't ask for help but tried to figure it out by myself. By doing this I actually discovered a new technique. Others may have asked for help but overall I can't think of how they were different from myself.

5. You need to build a pyramid exactly like in Egypt. Your thoughts, feelings and actions?
What is the purpose of doing that? It would be useful to look at how they built them in ancient times, but also consider the new technology we have today. This would be a big task, and I would be wondering if I could do this without massive difficulty lol.

Trying Typing Again! 40Q's, Pictures, Optional Video

Okay, I'm trying this again, because on my first one I didn't receive very consistent or many results... so I'm trying it this time with a shorter one.

HERE is my photo album for VI type, but note, these are only "selfies" that I've used for FB profile pictures. I have a video, but I won't post it publicly. If you'd like to see it, just say so and I'll PM it to you.

ALSO, for those who are familiar with Enneagram, my Tritype is 4w3, 6w7, 9w1 sx/sp

Block I

1. What is work in your opinion? Why do people go to work? Are there any parameters where you can distinguish whether you can do this work or not?

Work is what everyone has to do to make money. Work is just stuff that has to be done. As for the parameters, I just look to see if people are qualified for the job. However, I believe anyone can do some things so long as they're willing to learn.

2. How do people determine the quality of work? How do you determine such quality? How well you can determine the quality of any purchase, do you pay any attention to it?

Is it done as instructed? Does it hold up/work properly? I don't have a lot of sympathy for people who do half-ass work. As for the quality of a purchase, same thing. Does it do as instructed? Is it durable? I always pay attention to quality when purchasing,

3. There is a professional right next to you. You always see that you can't perform the way they do. Your feelings, thoughts and actions?

Very envious (thanks a lot, Enneagram 4) I feel a sense of competition. I want to be good at things too and I become determined to be better. I want to be special!

4. If you struggle to do something, what can you say about such a task? Tell us your next steps and give examples. Compare with actions of others in a similar situation.

Blame myself. I'm obviously not doing it right and I'm incompetent. I try to improvise and do it to the best of my ability and most of the time, it works out. I might also ask someone for help, but I hate doing that. Others in my situation don't seem to be as self-blaming.

5. You need to build a pyramid exactly like in Egypt. Your thoughts, feelings and actions?

.... why would I want to do that?

Block II

1. General to specific, specific to general – what does it mean? Give examples.

General is broad without details. it's just enough information to get the "gist" on how to do something or a story being told. For example, how to do something or put something together might be generalized by giving broad instructions.
Specific is details on how to do something or a story being told, in other words, it's descriptive. Instructions are very step-by-step and a story might include a lot of visual detail or something.

2. What does "logical" mean? What is your understanding? Do you think that it correlates with the common view? Is it is easy for you to be logical?

Logic is... the smartest way to do something. It's common sense. It's always impersonal evaluation of data like puzzle solving or mathematics.
As for whether it correlates with the common view, I would think so, but everyone seems to have a different definition of logic.
And nah, it's not too easy for me to be logical.

3. What is hierarchy? Give examples of hierarchies. Do you need to follow it? Why or why not? Give example of hierarchy of systems, what is it?

A leader and subordinates. Like in a business, or a country with a king/queen. I would only follow a hierarchy if I respected them. If not, then absolutely not.
Give an example of hierarchal systems? Nah... that sounds strenous.

4. Choose one of the following tasks and give a detailed answer. Explain your choice.
- Analyze famous phrase of Socrates: “I know that I know nothing”. Is it logical?

Absolutely. What do we really know as human beings? I'd say most things we do not know for certain and to tell someone that you know something for certain is a bit foolish. There's a saying, "the more a man thinks he knows, the more stupid he is."

5. Do you frequently feel the need to structure information? For what purpose? How do people usually do it? How do you do it?

Uuuhhh.... sometimes I arrange my grocery list to cooperate with the order of the aisles in the grocery store. Is that what you're talking about? LOL.

Block III

1. Can you press people? What methods do you use? If so, how does it happen?

Nah, I'm not the best at it? Depends on what you mean, though. If I press someone, it's physically I think. As in, I may yell, or threaten, because I'm not the best with words.

2. Are there strategies of attack? Can you use them? When is it justified? Do you think it's ok to occupy someone else's territory? In what situations?

Physical force is the best example I know of. I am quite confident in my ability to defend myself. I'm not afraid of physical confrontation at all. It's justified when someone threatens you in some way or when force is just... necessary. Occupy someone else's territory? Hm. It's usually against my values to intrude on someone's property in mose situations, but then again, I can be oppurtunistic if they are not handling their own territory properly.

3. How do you protect yourself and your interests?

Stay firm, determined, and show I'm a force to be reckoned with if you choose to pick a battle with me. I like to keep myself sharp in many ways. Also, physically, like I said I am NOT afraid to fight and be forceful if I must, but less through actual words.

4. Describe your behavior in the situations of opposition and if you have to use some force?

I use it. I don't back down. I'm not afraid of a challenge if it arises itself.

5. Do others think of you as a strong person? Do you think you are a strong person?

Yes, they do. I get frequently told that I am admired for my strength. I do think I am quite strong, physically and mentally though I do have my break downs from time to time. No one can make me do anything I don't want to do. I've always prided myself on my strength.

Block IV

1. What is beauty? Do you change your opinion about beauty? Does your understanding correlate with the generally accepted notion? What goes beyond the generally accepted notion?

Beauty is nature. It's the ultimate form of art, it's where art has come from. I'm quite a beauty-seeker personally. My opinion on beauty doesn't really change. I can find beauty in many places (once again, Enneagram 4!)
I think the world seems to associate beauty with sexual attraction. Sure, that might be one form, but cetainly not all. I don't really know what's "beyond the generally excepted notion." I don't much care.

2. Is there a template of understanding what beautiful means for everyone to use? Is there such a term as "classic beauty"? If so, what is it?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Classic beauty, by what I think most people would assume, probably like Marilyn Monroe or a fairytale princess.

3. How do you create your comfort and coziness? How do others evaluate your skill in doing so? Do you agree with them?

I just fill the room or whatever with what I think is beautiful. I also like doing things like drinking hot chocolate and snuggling with my pets or something. I haven't really gotten much feedback from others as far as this goes. Most people seem to think positively of my style.

4. How do you pick your own clothes? Do you follow fashion? Why? Do you know how to select clothes for different types of figures?

I love picking clothing. I just choose whatever I think is my style and is appealing to me. As for following fashion? Eh, some. I only follow it if I like it already. Yes, I think I'm pretty good at picking clothing for people.

5. Tell us how you'd design any room, house or an office. Do you do it yourself or trust someone else to do it? Why?

I have my own style. I love unique things. I'm into Gothic aesthetics. I do it myself because... I like what I like! I might ask for a simple opinion, but I certainly would want to be my own thing.

Block V

1. Is it acceptable to express emotions in public? Give examples of inappropriate expression of emotions.

I don't express mine, that's for sure. Even though I have very powerful emotions, I keep them inside. I hate crying or showing visible anger in public. Inappropriate I think would be raising your voice or just causing
an absolute scene somehow.

2. Think of such negative emotional states as sadness, gloom, and despondence.

- Can you, at your own will, enter these states? If not, then when do you feel them?

Nope. I'm pretty prone to melancholy, but usually not at my own consent.

- How long can you stay in such states?

Uhhhhh.... depends?

- How can you withdraw from them?

I can't. They are just there. I can't get rid of them on my own.

- Can they be pleasant, soothing?

Nope.

- How do you feel after you have experienced them?

I don't know. I guess I just kind of... move past them?

3. How quickly can you change emotional state? To what side – positive or negative?

Pretty quickly, and usually negatively.

4. What emotional state is usual for you? Does your internal emotional state correlate with what you show externally?

My emotions are pretty intense. (Once again, I'm a Sx Enneagam 4)
I'm usually pretty melancholic. But it doesn't really show on the outside too much.=

5. Tell us about your moods over the last day

Depressed and frustrated. I've been going through some stuff, one of them bein a surgery that has kept me from doing what I want. I just want to get out and do things! It's driving me nuts.

Block VI

1. Tell us how did you build relationships with others over the last day.

I sit with my mother every morning at breakfast and talk to her. I text my friends and joke with them. Honestly, I should do even more, my relationships with my family and friends mean everything to me.
However, a lot of my relationships are pretty "silent", as in, we don't need to shower each other in words of affirmation to know our bonds.

2. What is sympathy? When do you need to express it? When is it advised not to? How do you express it?

Sympathy is expressing concern and affirmation for someone even though you aren't going through it. When to express it? I don't know beyond an "Oh, I'm sorry," or a hug when someone wants one. I don't express sympathy too often, honestly, unless someone is coming to me for comfort. But, I seperate comforting and being sympathetic.

3. Are there any standards of behavior or interpersonal relationships in the society? If so, do you adhere to them? Do people always have to maintain them? Why?

I suppose? I mean surely you wouldn't talk to your teacher in the same way you would a friend in a casual setting. I think there are exceptions sometimes, though. I only adhere to them if I have some respect for
the person. As for maintaing them, I think people just need to do what feels right in their hearts to them, not becuase society tells you that you have to treat a person a certain way because of status.

4. What does moral mean? What is immoral? How do you understand these terms and does your understanding correlate with the others? How can you evaluate the correctness of your own understanding?
Moral is right, immoral is wrong. Moral is being a good person, doing the right thing that you know to be right in your own heart. Immoral is causing pain for personal gain. I don't really care if my understanding correlates with others or not, so I can't answer this. I can't really evaluate my own correctness... it just feels right to me. I guess considering the consequences of my actions.

5. Somebody is giving you a negative attitude – what is your reaction? Could you show your own negative attitude toward someone else? If so, how? Could you feel ill-disposed towards somebody for a long time?

How easily do you forgive people?
I just try to be rational and calm around them. No need to feed the fire. Asfor my own negative attitude, it depends. Unless it's something really bad, I just keep it to myself. However, yes, I can feel ill towards a person for a very long time. I do not forgive people easily at all once they've wronged me.

Block VII

1. Is there a meaning of life? In what? Is it the same for everybody?

Yes, I do believe in a meaning for life. In what? I don't know. It's not the same for everyone! People must follow their own path.

2. When you meet a stranger, what can you say about them right away? How do you know what this person is all about? Does it take long to understand someone's traits?

I can tell what kind of person I'm dealing with pretty quickly. The way they talk, their mannerisms, etc. It doesn't take me very long to understand someone's traits.

3. What is imagination? Do all people have imagination and can fantasize? What is your fantasizing like?

As an Enneagram 4, I know all about imagination and fantasizing. Imagination is thinking of something that probably won't happen. You take yourself to distant worlds, think of the impossible. All people have imagination and can fantasize, I believe. My fantasizing is a lot about love and adventure.

4. What do you think of people (or yourself) who distinctively stand out in a crowd, differ from others? What is a measure of such distinction, how can this difference be feasible and how not?

I love people who stand out and I strive to stand out myself. I definitely admire people who aren't afraid to be themselves! As for the last two questions, I'm not sure I understand...?

5. Ideas do not have to be correct in order to be good. What's your attitude towards this statement?

Uhhhh... of course ideas have to have some correctness before they're considered good ideas. I mean, what's an idea if you can't actually do anything with it? Silly question.

Block VIII

2. What is time? How do you feel time? Can you waste time?

Time is... I don't know, I believe it's change. I think it is something man has created to help better understand that, change. I can't really explain how you "feel" time other than your body aging and noticing the
changes around you. You can certainly waste time, I think, by inaction.

3. Do you need help creating forecasts and determining how something will end? Do you trust those forecasts?
Mmmm... no, not really. I am pretty confident in how I think things will end. I trust them, usually. Most of the time I'm correct, but I've been wrong a few times of course.

4. Are you normally late? How do you react if someone is late?
I HATE being late. I'm hardly ever late. If someone is late, I'm very annoyed, even a bit anxious.

5. Imagine the situation where you agreed to meet with someone. Your feelings and actions:

a) 20 minutes before the meeting starts,
Pretty chill, enthusiastic for them to get here! I'm certainly not patient Maybe they'll get here a bit early?

b) 5 minutes before the meeting starts,
Anxious, where are they? They should be here any moment, right?

c) it is time for the meeting to start, but the person is not here
Annoyed, but I'll give them the benefit of doubt, maybe they got caught by a train or something? Or, ya know, maybe they're just irresponsible...

d) 20 minutes after the meeting start time and the person is not here,
Be very irritated, angry even, but I won't show it. I'll call them, text them, something and see what's up.

e) more time and the person is still not here…
Screw it. I'm leaving. Assholes! They better not come up with excuses...

And that's that! Thanks

Member Questionnaire 1 (GuitarDude)

What is beauty? What is love?

I think beauty is whatever a person finds to produce overwhelming emotions, and I believe love is that overwhelming emotion.

What are your most important values?

Honesty and trust I believe.

Do you have any sort of spiritual/religious beliefs, and why do you hold (or don't) those beliefs in the first place?

I think I'm a deist, I believe in a higher power and I pray but I don't necessarily belong or enjoy the thought of belonging to a Church. I don't know why I believe in a higher power, I just do and whenever I pray I get this weird feeling that something is listening to me and I don't feel alone.

Opinion on war and militaries? What is power to you?

I used to believe that war and other military related things were cool and while I still have an interest in military history I have over recent years developed a distaste for it because someone has always profited off of war. I believe power is exactly that, profit, money. If you have money, you have power, weather it be over politicians or people who desire more.

What have you had long conversations about? What are your interests? Why?

MUSIC. Sorry for caps, I love music because as the first answer says, its produces overwhelming emotions for me and I love feeling that feeling whenever I play music or listen to music, its just beautiful and loving to me and it speaks words that otherwise I would have a hard time saying.

Interested in health/medicine as a conversation topic? Are you focused on your body?

I am sometimes interested in working out, when I'm not busy or stressed out I like to workout. I like hiking too, so I think exercise is important and I hate letting my body go to waste or eating too much junk food because I view my body as a temple as corny and cliche as it sounds.

What do you think of daily chores?

Annoying but it has to be done probably.

Books or films you liked? Recently read/watched or otherwise. Examples welcome.

Louis C.K - its messed up how much I can relate to that dude sometimes. I am not as cynical though but lately I've really been enjoying the show, I don't even know if I find it funny as much as I find it informing.

What has made you cry? What has made you smile? Why?

Losing a girl that I developed strong emotions, same girl I smiled about. Recently I smile over music, music has made me cry in the past before too. I think its just things that I find beautiful, I'm sensitive to things that I have overwhelming emotions to and yeah, that can sometimes make me cry because I hate losing what I love and I hate feeling overwhelming negative emotions.

Where do you feel: at one with the environment/a sense of belonging?

I think I aim for being one with the environment, I love being outdoors, I love hiking. Belonging is important but its not the most important thing to me, most people I don't agree with and annoy me so why should I want to be belong in their little social groups or what have you.

What have people seen as your weaknesses? What do you dislike about yourself?

I sometimes wish I wasn't so awkward or emotional, I overreact and overthink everything and that can be really stressful.

What have people seen as your strengths? What do you like about yourself?

I've been called modest and loyal and I like those things, I like that I'm a modest dude because I hate cockiness and I think loyalty is important in a world where people will back stab one another over the stupidest things.

In what areas of your life would you like help?

Performing in front of people, I'm doing more and more of it but I really want to get the hang of it. Its still nerve wracking to get in front of people and play music even though its not like I'm a terrible musician, I just am not the best at it yet.

Ever feel stuck in a rut? If yes, describe the causes and your reaction to it.

College work makes me feel stuck in a ruck often, generally I just ignore it, listen to music, go on a walk, do whatever I gotta do to not think about it. Playing music has been my go to for whenever I feel stuck.

What qualities do you most like and dislike in other people? What types do you get along with?

I just hate people that aren't cool and treat people terribly, full of themselves, just assholes.

How do you feel about romance/sex? What qualities do you want in a partner?

OH GOD. I could go on. I'm truthfully a bit of a hopeless romantic and I don't really know what I really desire. I guess compatibility, someone that wants more than just a fling or relationship, I'd want to actually be in a loving relationship. Its hard being in College and wanting that when most people just want to hook up or aren't really looking for anything serious. Its all good though, I'll know when I find what I'm looking for.

If you were to raise a child, what would be your main concerns, what measures would you take, and why?

Making sure they were happy but also making sure they were cool and caring I think. I would want them to be themselves but I would also want them to not be spoiled because I hate people who think that whining will get them what they want. I just would want my kids to be cool because that's important in a world full of people who really aren't cool.

A friend makes a claim that clashes with your current beliefs. What is your inward and outward reaction?

Inward I'd probably be questioning our friendship just a little, outward I'll probably be passive and act as if it doesn't bother me. I might overreact but it would really depend on the value.

Describe your relationship to society. How do you see people as a whole? What do you consider a prevalent social problem? Name one.

I hate society personally because people just annoy me. I think we need to take better care of the environment, because how are we supposed to socialize in a world that were destroying? I also believe in taking better care of animals and preventing extinctions.

How do you choose your friends and how do you behave around them?

I choose my friends based on if I think they're cool or not mostly, if I can be around them and have a conversation with them then were good to go. Having some sort of similar interests is important too or at the very least it makes it easier.

How do you behave around strangers?

Very quiet and shy, observant and tense.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

LSE

Thinking in Text vs. Images or Abstracts

Is this a symptom of a serious problem, or is it a normal way to organize thoughts? Should I get checked? It feels so unhealthy to spend all this time reading and writing rehashings of the same old languages, not speaking, molding things with my hands, or even just computing values.

Is this why there's been such an apparent depreciation in the value of abstract knowledge lately? Are working speed and charisma the only things that matter now?

EDIT: Sheeeeeeeeeiiiit, mods pls move this to Psychology if you see this. I went into the wrong subforum. Closed until this happens.

The power of social media is alive and well in Iraq where Iraqi SWAT team members are letting their instagram followers vote on whether or not they should execute a Daesh prisoner. Typing by VI?

i don't think it is about nothing. if anything, the structure, pace and content makes it easier to watch than most typing videos. i believe this kind of presence is rare, so congrats if you have not taken acting classes. makes for a good asset.

you seem like the no bs yet open-minded type. i see a very grounded, aware and self-monitoring core, although at first i thought you would be e3w4 (for the wrong reasons). i can see Ti because you appear to be doing this in a detached yet consistent way. good take on the socionics tests. they tend to be very simplistic and open to interpretation. it would be interesting to break down a test instead of waiting for them to come out and consume like hot buns.

if i remember correctly, the last person who expressed similar views with you around here (focusing on cognitive functions, with the rest somehow seen as gratuitous paraphernalia) was missbabydoll and she self-typed LSI.

On incompatibility of Socionics and MBTI + Alternative translation of socionics to english

Alternative translation of socionics to english + On incompatibility of Socionics and MBTI

This is an alternative translation of one of the braches of socionics to english (Jung-Augustinavichiute-Talanov personality model). Only the main terms were translated. The notable differences are described in the summary.

Summary:

1) All cognitive functions are called kinds of thinking. I like HBDI approach.

2) The contradictions between MBTI and socionics are made explicit so the type conversion isn’t possible for introverts.

3) Rational/Irrational names were replaced with Judging/Perceiving as these are more accrurate names: remember Rationalism and it’s attitude to emotional thinking. This also helps make contradictions from 2 more clear.

4) “Tangible-oriented thinking” is used instead of Sensing/Sensory, “Associative thinking” is used instead of Intuition, “Task-oriented thinking” is used instead of Thinking/Logic, “Social-oriented thinking” is used instead of Feeling/Ethics.

5) Standard MBTI acronyms for Jung functions (Se, Si, Ne, Ni, Fe, Fi, Te, Ti) and dichotomies (N/S, T/F) are used for MBTI partial compatibility purpose. Unfortunately there seems to be no way to avoid using standard MBTI acronyms for Jung functions.

6) Standard socionics functions symbols (● ○ ▲ △ ◆ ◇ ■ □) and Victor Gulenko’s 8 latin letters (F, S, I, T, E, R, P, L) were abandoned as inconvenient, unpopular in english community and weird

7) Some differences between types in classical socionics and reference types in Jung-Augustinavichiute-Talanov personality model are outlined.

Socionics is fundamentally flawed

Socionics is about information metabolism and Jungian typology. In order to combine these two theories you must define eight kinds of information (aspects), and they must correspond perfectly with eight cognitive processes.* Unfortunately, Aushra based the information aspects on space, energy, time etc. instead of cognitive processes, and consequently they do not match up.

Here's an example:

Logical deductions (A=B, B=C, therefore A=C) fit neither Socionics P nor L according to me. Socionists claim that logical deductions belong to L. Why is that a problem? A conversation between SSS and me illustrates this:

I: Which TIMs are most suited to work as an accountant according to SSS?

SSS: This one is easy. What is accountancy about? About counting. Counting is related to system logic. So the answer is - any type with L in Ego block. Like LSI, LII, SLE, ILE. Note: I understand the term 'suited' in the sense 'more capable'. However there can be other criteria of 'suitedness'. And intuitive types like LII and ILE risk to get bored and leave for lack of creative tasks in this profession.

Aushra, P = "the activity of object and subject, their ability to work."
Aushra, L = "the objective relationship between two entities and their separate properties - the relation of objects or object measurement object".
Objects: Things that can be observed, studied, and discussed apart from the subject (observer)
Fields: Things that are perceived through the subject by means of feelings and cannot be studied apart from the subject

SRSI, P = Logics of actions: technology, function, action, deed, fact, knowledge, use, benefit, business, method, reason, instrument, tool, expediency, business team, effectiveness, price, movement, mechanism
SRSI, L = Logics of relationships: system, analysis, instruction, mathematics, structure, classification, register, parameter, regularity, law, synthesis, proof, understanding, right, duty, responsibilities

Wikisocion, information aspects
L: Statement X follows logically from Statement Y or does not
P: Something is useful or not

*School of System Socionics:
"The trick is that we believe that there is no information existing outside of the perceiver, hence no information can be independent from psyche. That follows from the definition of the term "information" which we use. We define information as metrics of interaction between the perceiver and the perceived."

However, this implies that either a) information can appear from nothing, or b) you must define that part of information which is stored on hard drives etc.

The Eight Types of Intelligence Test

Your result for Howard Gardner's Eight Types of Intelligence Test ... Naturalistic

27% Logical, 57% Spatial, 6% Linguistic, 39% Intrapersonal, 24% Interpersonal, 6% Musical, 20% Bodily-Kinesthetic and 59% Naturalistic!

"This area has to do with nature, nurturing and relating information to one's natural surroundings. Those with it are said to have greater sensitivity to nature and their place within it, the ability to nurture and grow things, and greater ease in caring for, taming and interacting with animals. They may also be able to discern changes in weather or similar fluctuations in their natural surroundings. They are also good at recognizing and classifying different species. 'Naturalists' learn best when the subject involves collecting and analyzing, or is closely related to something prominent in nature; they also don't enjoy learning unfamiliar or seemingly useless subjects with little or no connections to nature. It is advised that naturalistic learners would learn more through being outside or in a kinesthetic way. Careers which suit those with this intelligence include scientists, naturalists, conservationists, gardeners and farmers." (Wikipedia)

The Eight Types of Intelligence Test

Hello

I've been interested in the theory of Jung's cognitive functions for a while now, and decided I would take up Socionics as I find it a little more intriguing.

I'm still unsure of my type (even in JCF), so I posted a questionnaire that I filled out under the "What's My Type?" section on here. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think

Hello

40 Q&As w/ old picture

Feel free to ask any additional questions that will help you type me. I tried to answer the questions to the best of my ability and I understand that some of my answers are a little shitty lol. I also included a picture of me, if it helps.

(Extraverted Logic)

1. What is work in your opinion? Why do people go to work? Are there any parameters where you can distinguish whether you can do this work or not?

Work is any means of achieving one’s goal(s). This can be done in so many different ways that it is entirely up to the individual to choose which path he

wants to take to reach his desired result. There are many parameters, including laws set by government to avoid nasty altercations with gangs or drug cartels, as well as health parameters that would prevent a job from being done efficiently and to prevent possible injury.

2. How do people determine the quality of work? How do you determine such quality? How well you can determine the quality of any purchase, do you pay any attention to it?

People determine the quality of work by looking at the amount of time it took to get the result and comparing that result to the prototype of its category. If it matches up then they are good to go with that product and if it doesn’t, then back to the drawing board! I determine quality by using the same sort of system. I will take a look at what I want and the options that are available to me, and make a decision from there. I pay attention to the expected quality of my purchase, but I completely forget about how much money I spent on something after the fact.

3. There is a professional right next to you. You always see that you can't perform the way they do. Your thoughts, feelings, and actions?

I would start up a conversation with him/her and try to probe for what they do differently in order to find a better way of doing things without explicitly asking “Hey! Why are YOU better than ME?!” I would remain calm in doing this because I know that if I act nervous that the person will be off-put by it and might figure out that I’m essentially trying to steal their strategy.

4. If you struggle to do something, what can you say about such a task? Tell us your next steps and give examples. Compare with actions of others in a similar situation.

At first I would get stressed out, tell myself that I can’t do it, but then I would take a step back for a little bit to ponder what I’m doing and what I am trying to do, hoping that their will be something important that I’m missing that I simply overlooked on the first run. After taking a little break, I would go back to the assignment, draw it out in some sort of diagram so I could better move the pieces around, and go from there. If all else fails, then I will ask somebody else if they have a different perspective on the assignment. I’ve seen others just immediately give up and go get help without trying to push through and get it done without help. I’ve also seen others stick to their way of doing things and exclude other options, even though their way of doing it has failed them multiple times.

5. You need to build a pyramid exactly like in Egypt. Your thoughts, feelings and actions?

That would be kind of cool! I would love to build the pyramid, although some help would be nice. So I would round up a few of my friends to help me complete this project.

Introverted Logic

1. General to specific, specific to general – what does it mean? Give examples.

It’s more or less giving a broad statement and filling it in with details as necessary. It’s like filling in a general map of Italy with all of the places that most people are familiar with, (Venice, Rome, historical architecture, and the landscape) and then filling in the specifics (smaller villages, bridges, and stores).

2. What does "logical" mean? What is your understanding? Do you think that it correlates with the common view? Is it is easy for you to be logical?

Logic is an individual’s ability to rationalize their decisions. I think my logic might be a little bit off compared to the common view, for I do a lot of things instinctively without really giving much thought to it. This doesn’t happen all the time and when I am faced with a decision, I try to use logic to back up my decisions, but that’s only for the bigger ones rather than the smaller ones. I’ve had back and forth arguments between a friend of mine and I where both of us thought the other was being unreasonable, so it just proves that every individual has their own means of rationalizing their decisions.

3. What is hierarchy? Give examples of hierarchies. Do you need to follow it? Why or why not? Give example of hierarchy of systems, what is it?

A hierarchy is an underlying system that institutions use to balance what each component does to keep the system running smoothly. A hierarchy could be an institution such as a church, school, or government, and even to a car, coffee machine, or video game system. Even though the latter three things aren’t groups of people, it is still made up of individual components that have their purpose to make up the whole. Everyone follows hierarchies whether they like it or not, because hierarchy includes social status, which is something that you are born directly into.

4. Choose one of the following tasks and give a detailed answer. Explain your choice.

• What is classification? How does classification work? What is it needed for and where is it applied? Give example.

Classification is assigning similar things to a category in order to establish a group. By classifying things, it makes it easier to find and pinpoint certain aspects that are similar to each other in order to branch out into different things. An example would be music. If your friend likes rock music and is looking for new suggestions, and you consider a band like Three Days Grace to be rock music, then you will suggest Three Days Grace to him/her. You are classifiying things everyday, whether you are consciously aware of it or not.

5. Do you frequently feel the need to structure information? For what purpose? How do people usually do it? How do you do it?

I feel the need to structure information if it helps my point to get across in a more coherent fashion. I would do it by categories of questions, like this questionnaire, or from beginning -> end, like in a story. I think this is what people usually do to better get their point across instead of randomly throwing things in a pile and expecting somebody else to understand what they are trying to say.

Extraverted Sensation

1. Can you press people? What methods do you use? If so, how does it happen?

I can press people in the way of trying to get them to do something without flat out telling them to do it. Sort of like flashing arrows at them without showing my face. I’m more of a behind-the-scenes type of guy unless I need to step up and claim my space.

2. Are there strategies of attack? Can you use them? When is it justified? Do you think it's ok to occupy someone else's territory? In what situations?

There’s always a strategy of attack, whether it be in your face or behind the scenes but I don’t think it can be justified unless you have been put in a life-threatening situation. I think it’s okay to occupy someone else’s territory when you don’t agree with what they are doing with their territory. I don't mean to do it often but sometimes it just happens.

3. How do you protect yourself and your interests?

I protect myself when I feel that I need to protect myself, which isn’t often, but I trust my ability to do so. I prefer to keep my interests to myself until somebody else brings up a topic that involves my interests. I don’t like to throw my interests out there at people and expect them to pick them up immediately for they are sort of esoteric.

4. Describe your behavior in the situations of opposition and if you have to use some force?

If I think that I’m wrong, I’ll back down and accept it, but if I think I’m right, then I go all out and try to convince the other person of my point of view. I will use force if someone is provoking me to use force; otherwise I think it is a waste of time and energy to use it with no purpose.

5. Do others think of you as a strong person? Do you think you are a strong person?

Others think of me as a quiet, but strong person, which I completely agree with. I don't show it off, but I have it in case it is needed.

Introverted Sensation

1. What is beauty? Do you change your opinion about beauty? Does your understanding correlate with the generally accepted notion? What goes beyond the generally accepted notion?

Beauty is something that is pleasing to the eye. I think people are born with a sense of what they feel is beautiful or not. I don’t really pay attention to the looks of a person or place; it’s more of a magnetic feeling of attraction that I get. I guess there is some sort of generally accepted notion of beauty but I don't really pay attention to it. As a whole, I think beauty is entirely open to interpretation of an individual.

2. Is there a template of understanding what beautiful means for everyone to use? Is there such a term as "classic beauty"? If so, what is it?

The template is set in place while you grow up so it is entirely subjective. This template begins to set in place with the idea of “classic beauty” that includes princes, princesses set in motion by Disney or other popular depictions of fairy-tales.

3. How do you create your comfort and coziness? How do others evaluate your skill in doing so? Do you agree with them?

I don’t pay attention to my comfort or coziness beyond the essentials like sleeping in a bed instead of sleeping in the woods by my house other than it’s more comfortable in my bed. My mom and sister like to light candles and put different fragrances in their rooms because it apparently helps them to clear their senses, which I do not understand at all.

4. How do you pick your own clothes? Do you follow fashion? Why? Do you know how to select clothes for different types of figures?

I don’t know much about clothing and I just wear what I think looks good on me. I don’t follow fashion per se, but I do shop at mainstream stores so I guess it becomes inherent. I just don’t care enough to go out of my way to get all the “hip” clothing just because it is popular.

5. Tell us how you'd design any room, house or an office. Do you do it yourself or trust someone else to do it? Why?

I would trust someone else to do it because I could easily just live in four walls with a window and a bed. I would just put in everything that I like to do throughout the day in there to keep myself occupied. I’m relatively simple in that regard.

Extraverted Ethics

1. Is it acceptable to express emotions in public? Give examples of inappropriate expression of emotions.

Of course it’s acceptable to express emotions in public. I think it’s more a “feel” when somebody uses emotions inappropriately.

2. Think of such negative emotional states as sadness, gloom, and despondence.

• Can you, at your own will, enter these states? If not, then when do you feel them?
• How long can you stay in such states?
• How can you withdraw from them?
• Can they be pleasant, soothing?
• How do you feel after you have experienced them?

I can access these emotions at will but I cannot stay in them for long. I naturally withdraw from them. Even if I genuinely feel these emotions, they are apt to change fairly quickly. Emotions provoke new thoughts and ways of looking at things so they can be used for that reason as well. After I’m done with my emotions, I regret feeling them because I realize that it was sort of silly to act that way in the first place.

3. How quickly can you change emotional state? To what side – positive or negative?

My emotions are bouncing between positive and negative throughout the day, but I tend to wade more towards the middle for the most part.

4. What emotional state is usual for you? Does your internal emotional state correlate with what you show externally?

I’m usually in a place of peace, or at least a content feeling. I think I have a good handle on my emotions but they do correlate with what I show for the most part.

5. Tell us about your moods over the last day.

I woke up stressed out for a couple hours, steadily getting over whatever I was stressing out about. Then it turned to my usually “peacefulness” and then I became very slap-happy with my friends, then back to my usual self. I would say that they fluctuate very rapidly throughout my usual day.

Introverted Ethics

1. Tell us how did you build relationships with others over the last day.

By having a good time with people and making sure that my mood corresponded with theirs without causing too much trouble.

2. What is sympathy? When do you need to express it? When is it advised not to? How do you express it?

Sympathy is just showing that you care on the outside, although on the inside it may feel like a lie. I feel the need to express it when I know someone just needs a shoulder or someone to act like they care. I wouldn’t advise somebody to refrain from showing sympathy unless the other person did something insanely stupid to deserve whatever emotion they are in. Even still, I would say that it’s good just to show that you are there for them.

3. Are there any standards of behavior or interpersonal relationships in the society? If so, do you adhere to them? Do people always have to maintain them? Why?

I think there are expected relations between people, like in a place of work, but I don’t adhere to them if I don’t agree with who the person is or what they do. I know that I’ll make it apparent that I don’t genuinely like them without meaning to. It’s only easy for me to fake emotion to a certain extent. People shouldn’t feel the need to maintain what society feels is right for them to express. If they want to go against the grain then so be it.

4. What does moral mean? What is immoral? How do you understand these terms and does your understanding correlate with the others? How can you evaluate the correctness of your own understanding?

Moral corresponds with being a good person to others and making the right choices that don’t put anyone else at harm. Immoral is being a complete jackass to others or making decisions that you know are no good for yourself and others. I think I’m on good terms with the overall understanding of morality.

5. Somebody is giving you a negative attitude – what is your reaction? Could you show your own negative attitude toward someone else? If so, how? Could you feel ill-disposed towards somebody for a long time? How easily do you forgive people?

My reaction is to still be nice and brush off their negative display. I can show my negative side to others but I prefer not to because I know it can easily affect somebody else’s mood. I don’t hold grudges and I forgive others relatively fast.

Extraverted Intuition

1. Is there a meaning of life? In what? Is it the same for everybody?

Everyone has their own innate purpose in this world. I think it can be inherent or learned over time, but ultimately it was within them all along.

2. When you meet a stranger, what can you say about them right away? How do you know what this person is all about? Does it take long to understand someone's traits?

I can see how they are similar to previous people that I have met, but that doesn’t mean I know everything about them. I’m accommodating with others up to the extent that they are not purposely being an inconsiderate person.

3. 'Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.' (Albert Einstein). What is the core of stupidity? Explain the reason for its infinity. How does thinking of a fool differ?

The core of stupidity is other’s stupidity, because everything you do will go out and affect others in some way or another. It goes back to the idea of Adam and Eve and taking a bite of the forbidden apple. Adam and Eve both set the groundwork for stupidity and the cycle spiraled down to where we are today. Stupidity cannot be stopped for there will always be someone who only has primal instinct and no sense of moral understanding.

4. Truth, half-truth and lie: where is the borderline between these concepts? Are "pure" states possible, and how can collection of true facts turn into lies?

Truth is relative to each individual in order for them to feel a sense of fulfillment. I don’t think a “pure” state of truth or lie is possible as there are people who will agree and disagree with another’s point of view on what they believe to be the “truth”.

5. Ideas do not have to be correct in order to be good. What's your attitude towards this statement?

An individual’s idea, good or bad, primes thought of another. That other person can then make the choice of thinking the idea is good or bad; it’s all up to interpretation.

Introverted Intuition

1. How people change? How do you feel about those changes? Can others see the changes?

People are born into a pattern of behavior that cannot be changed in small amounts. If there is a change then it is a big change, but I think they will ultimately return to their original behavior.

2. What is time? How do you feel time? Can you waste time?

Time is non-existent and only a construct of humans to help keep track of ‘measurable’ intervals. I really only feel time in the sense that I’m tired or awake; it’s more of an internal sense versus relying on an objective interval of time. I put time to as much use benefit as I can and do not like to waste it for no purpose.

3. Do you need help creating forecasts and determining how something will end? Do you trust those forecasts?

I’m good at forecasting people’s behavior if I have known them for a good amount of time. I’m not sure what I mean by a “good amount of time”; I sort of naturally get a good sense of whom someone is.

4. Are you normally late? How do you react if someone is late?

I’m perceived as “late” sometimes, but it ends up being for the better. I arrive at the right time because I avoided certain things from happening but when I arrive somewhat later than was expected of the other person, and then I’m considered late by an objective measure. I try not to do that for the sake of the other person but sometimes there are things outside of your awareness that prevents you from arriving at the time that they would like you to arrive at. I don’t mind people who arrive late because of that reason.

5. Tell us your thoughts on the topic of "Influence of fortune on my life."

I think those around you can influence your fortune, but ultimately it comes down to what you decide to do with your time.

LIIs and Fe dual-seeking

I'm pretty used to the Fe dual-seeking of LSIs in real life (which usually involves them being playful or directly seeking attention by planting themselves right next to me so that I acknowledge them). However, recently I've befriended an LII who I respect and admire. She does something I've noticed other LIIs (and some alpha NTs in general) doing, but have never scrutinized enough to understand--she behaves with what looks like indifference, usually, when I'm responding to her or making conversation. I interpret that reaction as polite disinterest and talk less, or try to shift the conversation to something that might interest her more. When I feel like these attempts have gone from being merely boring to mildly irritating, I give her space and do my own thing. To me, this is pretty standard behavior that works with the majority of people, but sooner or later, I notice the LII attempting to resuscitate the conversation. So I'm not sure if this is Fe DS behavior, if she isn't really bored but just not very good at broadcasting enthusiasm (she's also E5), or if she's feeling drained but not understanding why, so she tries to be polite without getting seriously invested. IDK GUYS. I've kind of experienced this with other alpha NTs in the past, doing the "I want to be included" thing, then disappearing when you try to engage them, then being like "hey why stop" when you give them their space. Is this just them being more comfortable letting someone else take the reigns, or am I not gregarious enough for them or what?

FWIW, this all goes on when we're communicating via text. Actual conversations via phone or whatever are usually fun-filled as long as one of us isn't falling asleep. Please help me be less of an emotional terrorist to alpha NTs.

Heavy Metal fans are gentle and creative

ISTOCK/PEOPLEIMAGES

"I love Slayer, Megadeth, and lots of cuddles" might not be as outlandish as it sounds. According to music psychology scholar Adrian North, PhD, who conducted a three-year studycorrelating the musical preferences and personality traits of more than 36,000 participants, heavy metal fans "are quite delicate things" who are "basically the same kind of person" as classical music lovers, only younger. Read on for more findings from North's awesome survey, plus many others that aim to explain the bond between you and your favorite music.

Classical fans are smart (and know it)

ISTOCK/BLACKRED

Reflective and complex is a perfect description of both classical music and the people who listen to it. According to Dr. North’s research, classical lovers are creative, introverted, and show high self-esteem; they see listening as a theatrical experience and share a mutual "love of the grandiose" with metal fans, though they tend to be older and make more money. They also may be smarter, according to a 2009 comparison of students’ SAT scores with their most-liked bands on Facebook. The study found that students who like Beethoven had an average SAT score of 137; more than 100 points higher than fans of the second-place entry (indie instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens). As for the lowest-scoring students? They love Lil Wayne. But don't let that color your opinion of hip-hop fans…

Hip-hop fans are extroverts

ISTOCK/OAT_PHAWAT

Energetic and rhythmic listeners, hip-hop fans enjoy the social aspects of music: dancing, singing along, and experiencing it with others instead of imprisoning it in a pair of headphones. Like rappers themselves, hip-hop fans rated as extroverted and had high self-esteem in North’s research. Another study shows that rap fans may share a quality with Kanye West known as "blirtatiousness"; that is, the tendency to blurt out thoughts as soon as they are formed.

Pop fans are outgoing and nervous

ISTOCK/LECHATNOIR

Chart pop fans showed a lack of creativity compared to other categories, and tend to be worriers. They are, however, outgoing and sociable, and have high self-esteem. (In general, extroversion is linked with with a love of happy music). Listeners who incessantly replay chart-topping singles may be more likely to use music to regulate their mood, as the brain has been shown to release dopamine before the peak of one's favorite song.

Rock fans are easygoing but selfish

ISTOCK/SMILINGWORLD

Classic rock fans work hard and are generally at ease with themselves. The trade-off: They're more self-centered than other listeners (anyone who has tried to score a spot at a crowded music festival can attest to this.) Like their pop-loving counterparts, fans of the yesterday’s hits are likely to use music to regulate their mood, as your favorite songs are often associatedwith intense emotional life experiences. Not all rock is created equal, though. Indie rock fans, on the other hand, tend to be creative and open to new experiences (and openness leads tomusical aptitude), but have low self-esteem and work ethic. Punk rock fans are intense, energetic, and low on empathy.

Folk, jazz, and blues fans are deep thinkers

ISTOCK/OZGURCANKAYA

Much like classical fiends, these listeners are reflective, open-minded, and highly creative. They take their politics like they take new experiences: liberally. They are more likely to use music to exercise their brains than their bodies. If you play jazz improv, you may even turn off part of your brain to unlock extra creativity.

Country fans are hardworking and close-minded

ISTOCK/ROBERTO A SANCHEZ

Not surprisingly, country listeners are unpretentious and high on empathy. They are generally agreeable and extroverted, and typically hard workers. Proving the stereotype true, country fans are likely to be politically conservative, and less open to other types of art and music.
