Describe the Quadras in your own words

Hey. I've seen many other threads about quadras before, but I'm not sure if there was one which asked people to write their own descriptions/views of the quadras. I'll go first.

Typing by quadra is popular because there are 4 main groupings of values in socionics. One can say there are 4 main types and then each has 4 subtypes. To some, recognizing this grouping of values is easier than specific functions.

• Alpha – +, +. Open-minded and excited about new ideas and inventions and connections, regardless of who they come from. Value more weight to the merit of ideas and devaluing authority. Can be respectful of someone low in position if they have a great idea, and can be disrespectful toward someone high in position & authority if they are viewed as incompetent or having bad ideas. Generally remains affable toward everyone regardless of personal disposition, if possible, but gets defensive of ideologies in personal disputes. This quadra can be associated with “entrepreneurship”, thinking outside-of-the-norm, potential mediation of ideological differences and feelings in quarrels, and organizing casual parties for others to get together and enjoy merriment and light-hearted laughter.

• Beta – +, +. Has an ‘us against them’ mentality. Focuses on differences in ideology and uniting people only for common causes. This quadra is the one most associated with “leadership”. Tends to have big-picture, dramatic ideas and tends to ignore or change the details and the carrying-out of ideas. Focuses on acquiring & maintaining power and authority over a sustained period of time. Prone to dramatic social interactions, open expressions of emotion, power plays, and respecting authority for the sake of maintaining social position and control. They tend to act in their own self-interest and expect others to do the same, and they can be extremely skeptical, bored, indifferent, or abusive towards those who worry about maintaining relationships with everyone.

• Gamma – +, +. Focused on the value of relationships and organizations over a sustained period of time. This quadra is most associated with politics, business, and profit. They tend to devalue the generation of novel ideas and focus more on the practical implications of which ideas are ultimately most effective. They focus on which relationships can be maintained long-term to their advantage despite short-term expression of emotion or social pressure. Being true to themselves and being authentic, even if it offends someone else, is valued more strongly than maintaining peace among other people. They understand how relationships can change over time and are extremely observant and critical of the amount of force others are using or pressuring others with in order to achieve their goals.

• Delta – +, +. Generally acts peaceably towards new acquaintances, regardless of differing perspectives, for the sake of maintaining harmony and relationships. They devalue dramatic displays of emotion and hierarchies of power. They focus on the long-term development of relationships and the productive benefits of harmony over a sustained period of time and how united a society and community can become, how healthy everyone can be, and overall utility that could be produced collectively. They might focus on correcting social injustice or providing resources to others or using their vast experience to teach others how to execute certain tasks. They may function as the “watchman” of society and be self-sacrificing in making sure that certain groups or individuals aren’t being hurt by the actions of others, and that everyone is behaving and acting rationally and efficiently.
