Engine Mount Fault Codes

Fellow Audi Drivers,

Need an expert answer here since I cannot seem to get a straightforward answer from my mechanic.

My check engine light came on due to the purge valve needing to be changed. The mechanic scanned the fault codes and determined this and then also said that the check engine light is on due to the two engine motor mounts - left and right that say open solenoid and need to be replaced.

My question is - I know that the motor mounts were bad before and may need changing or not. But the motor mount fault codes never caused the check engine light to come on and although you scan you will see those codes but only the purge value code caused the check engine light.

Can someone who knows about this shed some information on whether the motor mounts needing to be changed do in fact cause the check engine light to come on? I don't think they do and the mechanic is just trying to get me to pay an arm and a leg to change it - when I can do that later on when I have money.

Please help!
