Block 1
- General to specific, specific to general – what does it mean?
maybe inductive and deductive? I don't really know; you could use this different ways. General to specific narrows in on something and specific to general might show how that one thing fits into everything else.
- What does "logical" mean? What is your understanding? Do you think that it correlates with the common view?
I think "logic" is a consistent way of thinking by which different people can produce similar results while working independently. I want to say a lot of academics understand it in a similar way, but people throw the word around in situations it doesn't apply, of course. For instance, it can be conflated with "acting reasonable" (which is really subjective) or with "common sense."
- How do you explain fractions on the dial of the clock?
I don't think I would use a clock to explain fractions. I'm not sure I understand this question. I guess the three hands move at their respective rates and the second hand moves 60x as fast as the minute hand which moves 60x as fast as the hour hand.
- What is a rule? What rules do you have to follow?
A rule is something someone wants you to do consistently. I think I must die, and I probably cannot stand against the Federal Government on my own. I negotiate other things based on the situation.
- What is hierarchy? Do you need to follow it? Why or why not?
Hierarchy is where stuff is under other stuff. I... yes? I don't think it's personal...
- What do you think of instructions? Do you use them? Could you write an instruction manual? If so, what type of instruction manual would you most likely write?
Instructions are cool and helpful sometimes. I often find myself giving instructions to others... it makes the back of my brain itch a little though because a lot of it has to do with computers or grammar and if people just click around or google stuff they can figure it out on their own.
I could write an instruction manual but wouldn't do it without compensation—seems like frustrating work. I'd probably write a manual on grammar or communicating clearly or something. I feel like I suck at communication myself, though, so it'd probably be hard.
- Please explain: "Freedom is in complying with the laws, but not in ignoring the laws"? Do you agree with the statement? Why?
So they're saying your adherence to laws facilitates freedom and chaotic behavior does not. (?)
Taken literally, this is true: If you don't break the laws you (hopefully-maybe-probably) won't go to jail. No further comments ^_^
- Tell us how about consistent you are?
Not very.
- What is a "standard"? Why do people need it?
Standards distinguish humans from icky biological soup.
- You need to put your home
library in order. How do you feel about this activity? How will you approach this task?
I feel like this is a very good idea: my home library sprawls over everything inside and outside of my home (it has invaded my car and little private cubbies at my school where nobody cleans) and very little of it is in the bookcase (do I still have a bookcase?) The activity sounds... daunting. I approach this task by doing a variety of other tasks that are more important until it never gets done, all the while bemoaning my own lack of organization.
