I'm trying to find what CCM's would work in my car.
My VIN is WAUAC48H23K07820
2003 A4 Cabriolet (convertible)
1.8T
Location: USA
The current CCM is 8H0 959 433 C
Audi says the replacement is 8H0 959 433 L
If you don't mind trying to help me diagnose my problems please read my book below:
It's my friends car and she had it parked in the garage over winter and the battery died. She had it jump started two times to move it. I installed a new battery and a lot of the electronics are not working eg windows, cruise control, horn, wipers, turn signals, top. Some stuff DOES work like radio, heated seats, brake lights, locks, info center, cabin lights, trunk release, hazzard lights and it runs. The radio can be turned on at anytime no matter if the key is in or not. My research is pointing to me needing the CCM module (comfort /convenience control module) or an ignition switch but Im not an audi mechanic but fairly mechanically inclined. I want to be sure that is whats wrong before buying it, maybe if testing is possible.
First I checked all the fuses which were fine. Tried to use the key in the door to roll up/down windows, didnt work. Looked at wiring in door jamb, looks fine. Next I pulled and looked at the CCM. the harness looked fine but I didnt tear it apart. While out I was able to get the drivers door window to roll up, none of the other windows worked though. The ccm definitely didn't look water logged, the board looked good. If holding it at an angle in the light there was some slight spot that looked like they may have been from manufacturing, almost like very small spots of glue. I reinstalled that. It was hooked up to VCDS which communicated with the engine but most of the modules including the CCM said they were not responding. There was a steering angle sensor fault, can't remember which one. I went to a local salvage yard to get a CCM and the one was yanked form the convertible so I grabbed a few from the sedans figuring it wouldn't hurt. I pulled the CCM again, opening the harness to see if the joints and wiring was ok and everything looked fine. This time the drivers window had no response when the CCM was out. I installed on of the new ccm's 8EO959433B and it was able to communicate with the module but none of the functions started working, the only difference was the hazzards flashed very fast and went slower when I depressed the hazzard switch. I installed the rest of the modules and none of them showed any functions more than mine did. When the modules are unplugged the lights go out but will go on once replaced. This is for ALL the modules including the original one.
From what I am reading my cars body style is the 8H and the sedan is 8E and the modules are not compatible. I was hoping it would at least control the windows or somthing so I can determine it is worthwhile purchasing the correct ccm compared to the salvage yard which said no problem if this one doesn't work I can take it back.
So I'm at the point where I'm stuck. I'm thinking the ccm may need replaced since it failed to communicate to VCDS but the other one did. I'm wondering if the other modules besides the CCM are bad since they didn't respond or if the ccm could cause this. Lastly can I just update the coding of the 8EO module to make some functions work in the car or do I need an 8H module? I have access to the VCDS to recode the new modules if it may help.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
John
