I'm going to be pulling my motor that has 300k on it and replacing it with a lower mileage unit. I've called 5 shops, and the median price for this is $1900 in labor, that $1900 can buy a lot of other parts I need for the car..
So, is there a "how to" somewhere?
So far, I've got this as my order:
1. Spray everything with PB blaster
2. Drain fluids
3. Remove bumper cover, crash bumper, radiator, radiator fans
4. Unbolt accessories, tie them to the side of the engine bay (ps pump, ac, etc)
5. Unhook engine harness
6. Affix engine crane
7. Remove transmission bolts
8. Remove engine mount bolts
9. Wiggle engine free
10. Carefully remove engine
Before I put the new motor in, I'm going to do a T-belt, water pump, plugs, and coil pack service. If I can find them, I'll also do the valve cover seals.
While the engine is out, I need to fix my cruise control, I tried the solder fix, and that didn't work, so I'm going to redo the vacuum lines and check all the sensors.
So yea, any engine removal how-tos out there?
