System Error on dash panel

After fitting a new battery the instrument panel now just show SYSTEM ERROR. PLEASE CONSULT MECHANIC. A mechanic has plugged in a fault finder but cannot find what is causing the problem.

Audi A8 1999 2.8 petrol.



Any one have any ideas please.
